London Bridge

This is an anonymously published divided back postcard dating from about 1904 shows a view of around 1902. The view was taken from the south bank just downstream of London Bridge looking north. On the north bank is London Bridge Wharf also known as Fresh Wharf, the Church of St. Magnus the Martyr and the Monument. There are two paddle steamers moored at the wharf which was the embarkation point for the famous Belle Steamers, they serviced the estuary, East Anglian and North Kent ports. The paddle steamer nearest the wharf is, I believe, the "Woolwich Belle" and the larger paddle steamer is the "London Belle", both ships were built at Dumbarton by the Denny Bros in 1891 and 1893 respectively. There is also a Thames Steamboat Company paddle steamer travelling upstream, this boat looks like one of the ABC boats.
