Palace of Westminster
This is a Wrench Company postcard published in about 1904. It shows the view from the Members' Terrace looking north and downstream towards Westminster Bridge. The Thames Steamboat Company's paddle steamer is giving its passengers a close up view of Members of Parliament schmoozing their guests on the terrace where tea was traditionally taken, several "Nippies" can be seen around the tables. Today this area of the Palace of Westminster is a 'Venue', when the House is not sitting you can hire the terrace and the terrace pavilion (a temporary Marquee) for all kinds of events and even wedding receptions. You can now also marry in the Palace, there are two licensed areas, the Members' Dining Room and the Jubilee Room.
