Lambeth Palace

This is an undivided back postcard which was posted in Colchester on 3rd December 1902. It shows the Thames Steamboat Company's paddle steamer "Boadicea" leaving Lambeth Palace Pier for its next upstream stop. The Boadicea was built in 1898 by the Thames Ironworks Company at Blackwall and was one of three ordered by the Thames Steamboat Company, the other two were named "Alexandra" and "Cleopatra" and were known as the ABC boats. The postcard was published between 1899 and 1902. The "Boadicea" continued to work on the River Thames until 1912 when the Thames Steamboat Company was wound up.
