Vintage Negatives. Roll 12. Over the course of 12 rolls we have seen varied images of domestic scenes, military parades, a coronation, horse riding, Yorkshire beaches, York, London, the Mersey. But if there has been one theme throughout it is the featuring of 'Our Girl' in many of her father's snaps. So it seems fitting to post this as the last in the series. Joan Stott, daughter of the photographer, Tom Stott, in the garden of 16 Elmfield Terace, Heworth, their family home in the late 1930s and seen here with Jock, the first of several Highland Terriers that she was to have over her lifetime.
I take the opportunity to thank the many flickr pals who have invested much of their time in identifying the locations seen, especially in ascertaining the family house location which in turn led to the identity of its occupants at the time these photos were taken, 1937-39. It may be of interest to know that today's residents at the address bought the house from the Stott family back in 1960 and I have been in touch to let them know of these pictures, quite a few of which were of, or from, their home.
It has been a very interesting and entertaining journey which I have enjoyed far beyond what I coud have imagined when first buying the canisters of negatives from which these photos have emerged.
