Cams

Chrome-age companions. Aside of their 1950s vintage and made in Germany heritage, these three cameras have a particular matter in common - sticky shutters! Well I think sticky shutter blades rather than the mechanisms themselves. All have had several cleaning sessions in the Fulvue Studios workshops, which resulted in satisfactory working, but only for the blades to gum up some days or weeks later. Lighter fuel certainly does a trick or two in helping, but in these cases it seems not to have removed the gummy residues that, when drying up, stick the blades together. So I have resorted to spirit cleaning with the workshop's proprietary brand of vodka. The blades look nice and clean now, and again seem to be firing sharply. So I shall leave these cameras on the shelf for a while and revisit them to see if the cure is this time more permanent. I bother with them as they are such fine cameras and produce excellent photographs.
