Solving a crime with gel electrophoresis

Crime scene forensics uses DNA fingerprinting to ID people. DNA fingerprinting can be done by chopping up DNA into small pieces of different sizes and then using gel electrophoresis to compare the groups of DNA pieces to each other. Smaller bands of DNA run faster than larger bands. And everyone's DNA will be cut up into groups of different-sized pieces based on the sequence of the DNA.
