Anna's Hummingbird (Series)

These were taken under difficult lighting conditions since the little bird seemed to prefer the shade of a willow tree, perhaps so that it could perch on a branch rather than expend energy hovering. I chose a fast shutter speed 1/1000 sec since the wings were moving pretty fast and this forced a choice of ISO 1600 leaving the shots quite grainy. However, it did allow me to capture the bird in a variety of poses. These were taken on July 10, 2010, along the path north of the marshy area west of the pond at Jericho Park.
