Black Oystercatcher

There is a flock of a dozen or so Black Oystercatchers that frequent the rocks off the western portion of the Stanley Park Seawall. I heard the distinctive call nearby and looked down from the seawall to see this lone bird feeding on the shellfish in the rocks below. Very hard to get the exposure just right since the bird is so black and it was in the shadows of the rocks on a very sunny day. Vancouver, Dec 6, 2009.
