Dear friends, HALP!
I have a very serious question.
I'm making a knitted bib for a friend's baby. I intended to follow this pattern on Raverly: I checked the tension, even made a swatch to check it better, but at this point I realised that the neck closure is going to be too narrow (it's 8 stitches only, which means the cable width only) and bound to be too long to be effective. At this point I could:
- go on with the pattern as it is, verifying if my doubts are real and then see if it works or not (eventually, do it again: that's why there's a blue thread as lifesaver);
- make some sort of collar shaping both on the left and the right, then go on with the patterns as it is;
- make some sort of collar shaping both on the left and the right, but make a cord on the right as well, so the bib will close with a knot or a button on the back, and not on the side;
- start over, making a larger cable and a narrower bib;
- start over and change pattern completely!
Starting over is not a problem, as this is just an afternoon work.
At the moment the bib is 15cmx15cm.

Ho un problema molto serio.
Sto facendo un bavaglino ai ferri per la bambina di un'amica. Sto seguendo questo schema su Raverly (se riuscite a vederlo): ho controllato la tensione, ho pure fatto il campione per controllarla meglio, ma a questo punto del lavoro mi sono resa conto che il cordino del collo sta venendo troppo stretto (sono solo 8 punti, ovvero la larghezza della treccia) e sicuramente verrà troppo lungo per poter essere efficace intorno alla testa di un bambino. A questo punto potrei:
- andare avanti con lo schema così com'è, verificare i miei dubbi e vedere se funziona o no (eventualmente rifare se poi non va bene: per questo c'è quel filo azzurro, che mi serve come "salvataggio" per non perdere le maglie);
- fare un po' di scavo del collo sia a destra che a sinistra, e poi continuare con lo schema così com'è;
- fare un po' di scavo del collo sia a destra che a sinistra, ma fare anche un cordino a destra, così il bavaglino si chiude dietro con un nodo o un bottone, e non di lato;
- ricominciare da capo, facendo una treccia più larga e un bavaglino più stretto;
- ricominciare da capo e cambiare del tutto lo schema!
Ricominciare da capo non è un problema, visto che questo è il lavoro di solo un pomeriggio.
Al momento il bavaglino è 15cmx15cm.
