Citrus planthoppers
by John Tann
Colgar peracutum
These images were taken in February and March 2011 in and around Sydney and Gerroa, NSW.
Because the planthoppers shown have different markings, such as colour around rim of wing, presence of none, one or two stigma, pink-coloured legs, coloured eye, visible veins in the wing and so on, I initially thought that they were different species.
However, there is only one species of cone headed planthopper found in NSW - Colgar peracutum. Despite their different markings, I think that all the planthoppers shown here may be that species.
