Eucalyptus crenulata buds and stems

Are the pimples a standard part of the tree, or some kind of invader?

 

Buxton Gum, Eucalyptus crenulata, with juvenile leaves and small pointed flower buds. The whole branch is covered with a bluish-white glaucous bloom. Mount Dundas Regional Reserve, Tasmania Australia, January 2012.
