Cactoblastis egg stick on Velvet Tree Pear, Opuntia tomentosa

Dozens of hatched eggs of the Cactoblastis Moth, Cactoblastis cactorum, stacked on the end of a spine on a cladode of Velvet Tree Pear, Opuntia tomentosa. Jandowae Queensland Australia, November 2013.

 

The light colour in the cladode is damage caused by the Cactoblastis Moth larvae.
