Monolithos ist ein kleiner Ort im Gemeindebezirk Atavyros im Westen der griechischen Insel und Gemeinde Rhodos. Der Name bedeutet im Griechischen etwa so viel wie „einsamer Fels“. Bekannt ist der Ort vor allem für seine Johanniterfestung.
Die Byzantiner errichteten etwa 1,5 km südwestlich des heutigen Ortes eine Feste, die 1467 von den Johannitern erweitert und von 1480 bis 1489 durch Pierre d’Aubusson restauriert wurde. Heute dient die Burg, die im Übrigen nie eingenommen wurde, als beliebtes Fotomotiv und Aussichtspunkt. Innerhalb der Burgmauern befindet sich eine Kapelle des heiligen Pantaleon.

Monolithos is a small village in the municipality of Atavyros in the west of the Greek island and municipality of Rhodes. The name means something like “lonely rock” in Greek. The town is best known for its St. John's fortress.
The Byzantines built a fortress about 1.5 km southwest of the present-day village, which was extended by the Knights of St. John in 1467 and restored by Pierre d'Aubusson from 1480 to 1489. Today, the castle, which was never taken, is a popular photo opportunity and viewpoint. There is a chapel of St. Pantaleon within the castle walls.
