Great and Little Karoo
The Great Karoo has a west-east extension of over 750 kilometers and a north-south extension of around 110 kilometers. It is bordered to the west by the Cedar Mountains massif and to the east by the Winter Mountains. In the north, the Roggeveldberge, Komsberg, Nuweveldberge and Sneeuberg mountain ranges and in the south the Witteberge, Groot Swartberge and Groot Winterhoek form the natural boundary.
South of this region, bordered by the Swartberge in the north, the Little Karoo extends in a clearing basin. This in turn is bordered on its southern flank by the coastal Langeberge and Outeniqua Mountains.
