The Norsemen finished the 1979 season at 32-32 8 1/2 games behind the Milwaukee Schlitz missing the playoffs. Norsemen stat John Locke finished third in home runs with 33 and tied for third in RBI's with 89. Gene Parrish was the only ALL-PRO with Minnesota.
