Shell 14 Ton Tank Car

Most of these tank cars were built between 1939 and 1944. They were 17 feet 6 inches long, had a 10 foot wheel base and were equipped with RCH brakes on both sides and split oil axle bearings. The tank was 7 feet 2 inches in diameter and held 4275 gallons. All Class A tanks were taken out of service by 1971, with the last Class B tank following in 1973.
