Hull Trains 802301 "Amy Johnson" Northbound at Stapleford, Nottingham

2.20pm. Photographed from the Bridge which creates the county border between Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, Hull Trains 802301 "Amy Johnson" heads 1H03 a London St. Pancras to Hull service.

The road bridge in the background is the Brian Clough Way, named in honour of the football manager who managed both Nottingham Forest and Derby County during his illustrious career. In the extreme distance are the now defunct cooling towers of Ratcliffe Power Station, the UK's last coal powered power station which closed in September 2024. Under the bridge to the right is DB Cargo UK's Toton depot and to the left can be seen the line of decommissioned Class 60, 66 and 67 locos.

The southbound Freightliner is 6M01 a Doncaster to Southampton working with GB Railfreight 66742 "Port of Immingham Centenary 1912 - 2012" up front. The train was running some 20 minutes ahead of its scheduled time to pass Toton and was held on a Red Signal for almost 25 minutes.
