37107 Up Front at Great Rocks Junction

Signalman Derek Ashworth converses with a crew member of 37107, which along with sister 37509 have now been given authorisation to proceed from Great Rocks Junction Signal Box with 7H51, 22 empty wagons returning from ICI Northwich.

The Signal Box is located on the Up Main line alongside the Buxton Bridge Road overbridge. The box was originally part of the London Midland and Scottish Railway and first came into operation on 11th March 1923, replacing an 1891 built signal box in the same position. The photograph shows the box with a flat roof which replaced the original roof in the mid 1970's.
