Paddington Bound Intercity 125 Passes Over Moorswater Viaduct

The first viaduct at this location was built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel on behalf of Cornish Railway Company (merged into the Great Western) in 1859 and some of the piers from the original viaduct can still be seen. It was replaced by the current structure in 1881. The single track passing under the viaduct is the old mineral line which leads to the Moorswater China Clay Dries which were under the ownership of English China Clays at the time of the my visit in 1992.
