No. 6969 in Santa Fe Blue Bonnet colors was built by EMD in July 1974 as part of the second order of SDP40F units for Amtrak and originally numbered 633. It was sold to the Santa Fe in March 1985 when it was converted to a SDF40F variant and given the road number 5259 before being renumbered 6969. By contrast 4910 a GE C44-9W (Dash 9-44CW) is a new member of the fleet and supports the Railroads Heritage 2 livery, introduced in 1999.
