Conrail Liveried Loco 6801 Leads Santa Fe Diversion over the Mississippi River at Louisiana, Missouri

With Conrail liveried SD50 #6801 on point, supported by SF #6335 and #6740 the trio are about to leave Louisiana, Missouri and cross the Mississippi River into Pike County, Illinois with a diverted mixed merchandise train.

The swing bridge was built in 1873 by the Chicago and Alton Railroad and is currently owned by the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railroad. In charge of the bridge on the day of my visit was Reginald Hart, a resident of Pleasant Hill, Illinois, who had worked on the bridge for over 14 years. I have several other images of the bridge which I will post later for all of our bridge enthusiasts.
