BNSF Eastbound Intermodals Side by Side Abo Canyon, New Mexico

I couldn't quite understand what was happening here as both trains were brought to a halt momentarily. The two Eastbound intermodal workings are just east of Abo Canyon with the train on the on the near side eventually being given priority.
