"Trainscape" Image of Union Pacific Merchandise Along the Colorado River, Near Mack, Colorado
I love this part of Colorado and I have fond memories of sitting on this group of rocks complete with a couple of Deli sandwiches and an ample supply of Miller Draft in the cool box. I had two cameras with me on this excursion, a Contax 645 and a my Hasselblad Xpan, which at times created more problems that it solved in so far I could always see at least two completely different compositions that I liked each time a train arrived. OK, I know I could have set one up on the Gitzo tripod which I always carried and hand held the other, but I was never a "Snapper", so me it was one or the other.
The going away shot of this UP Merchandise was a no brainer as to which camera to use. The wide angle on the Xpan was ideal to capture both the train in its entirety and the stunning landscape of Colorado and the river that bears its name.
