Amtrak PD42C units 91, 179, 84 and 168 are captured crossing the mighty Mississippi River at Fort Madison, Iowa with the returning "Southwest Chief, bound for Chicago, Illinois.

The Fort Madison Toll Bridge, which is also known as the Santa Fe Swing Span Bridge is a tolled, double-decked swinging truss bridge over the Mississippi River that connects Fort Madison, Iowa, and unincorporated Niota, Illinois. The bridge is privately owned by BNSF Railway and is the main river crossing for their Chicago–Southern California traffic with some 50 to 100 trains crossing the bridge each day.
