Buxton Station with a Collection of Locos in Sight
Buxton originally had two Railway Stations, both built within a matter of weeks of each other in 1863. Designed by Joseph Paxton the Midland Railway and the London and North Western Railway stations were built side by side from local stone with identical frontages and each having a wrought iron glazed train shed roof, fronted with identical half-circle fan widows. The Midland Railway Station closed in 1967 and this view shows what remains of the London North Western terminus in February 1992.
