DRS 37's Over Moorcock Viaduct on the Settle & Carlisle

It's November 29 2005 and two Direct Rail Services 37's head north over the viaduct with a Sandite train, probably returning to Network Rail's hub in Carlisle. On point is 37229 "Jonty Jarvis" with 37029 on rear guard.

Originally known as Dandry Mire Viaduct from the morass of that name which it crosses, the Midland's original plans did not include a viaduct at the location. It became necessary when the intended embankment refused to hold. The viaduct was constructed during the four year period 1871 to 1875 and is 227 yards long and 50 feet high with 12 spans.
