EWS 66018 Crossing Dent Head Viaduct
Sitting at 1,150 feet above sea level and spanning the River Dee, the Dent Head viaduct is undoubtedly one of the lines most impressive structures. Constructed of locally quarried blue limestone between 1870 and 1875 the viaduct has 10 spans and is 197 yards long and 100 feet high. As can been seen in the photograph the centre pier is built significantly more substantially than the rest.
EWS 66018 is photographed heading south with a MGR working.
