John Griffith Chaney, better known as Jack London, was an American novelist and pioneer of commercial fiction. Born across the water in San Francisco in 1876 his most famous works include, Call of the Wild and White Fang, both being set in Alaska and the Yukon during the Klondike Gold Rush.
