Ribblehead

Taken from the Northern side of the viaduct the shot shows a Leeds to Carlisle working.

 

The area beyond the limestone outcrop to the viaduct was known as Batty Moss and between 1869 and 1875 over 2,000 Navies lived here with their families. The community had its own school, mission, post office and even a library.
