Arriva 37’s at Ribblehead Station

Train Information:

The Arriva Trains working from Carlisle to Leeds on the afternoon of Friday January 2 2004 saw 37408 "Loch Rannoch" up front, accompanied by sister loco 37411 at the rear. Running under the operating code IE23 the 37's amble through the station as another very cold winters night is about to descend on this beautiful but remote location.

Interesting Fact:

When the line became fully operational in May 1876 there were still several decisions to be made concerning the finishing touches to the stations and indeed, some of their names were still to be finalised. Ribblehead was originally to be named Batty Green and it was only changed when the Reverend E.H. Woodall of Settle wrote to the Midland in June 1876 suggesting the new name.
