EWS 66709 at Selside on the Settle & Carlisle
EWS 66079 runs downgrade through Selside with a loaded MGR train.
The hamlet is mentioned in the Doomsday Book when the land belonged to a Anglo-Norman aristocrat by the name of Roger Poitou, who also owned large areas of land throughout North Yorkshire and Cumbria. The Midland originally had plans for a station here, which seemed nonsensical given that they were committed to having a station in Horton in Ribblesdale, which is only a couple of miles to the south. In the event the station at Selside was never built.
