Load Haul 56090 at Elsham

Running as 6D86 Loadhaul 56090 is captured making its was back to Grimsby with the empty Tioxide containers. At the time this was a regular Block Train movement that carried Red Gypsum from the Huntsman plant (formerly British Titan Products) in Grimsby to the landfill site of Roxby Gullett, located some 4 miles north of Scunthorpe. The landfill site is a former ironstone quarry that served the steel works in Scunthorpe and to reach the site waste trains travel over the remnants of the North Lindsey Light Railway.

 

The Elsham Signal Box came into service in 1885 It was closed in December 2015 as part of a modernisation project.
