Stunning Scenery - Best Location in the World to Photograph Freight Trains, Tehachapi, California.
A personal opinion granted, but this has to be the best location in the world to listen to, watch and photograph freight trains. It is simply breathtaking.
I was originally inspired to visit this incredible location after purchasing and drooling over Steve Schmollinger's book "Tehachapi: Railroading on a Desert Mountain". I only wish that my photography skills and patience were a fraction of his. Sad to learn that Steve has recently passed away, I would have loved to have met him. Thanks for the inspiration Mr. S.
Over the years I have made several trips here, driving from the home we had at the time in Fort Myers, Florida. A small round trip journey of some 5,262 miles
Taken from a patch of land just above the loop, in the distance 4 BNSF locos can be heard straining as the make the climb between Woodford and the Loop.
