Matz Farmstead Historic Site
Dane County, Wisconsin. The Matz homestead was first settled in 1852. The Matz farmhouse was built from local stone by the Matz family, about 10 years later, after the father, Friedrich, returned from the Civil War. The farmhouse was lived in by at least a second generation, but was destroyed by a fire in 1949, 87 years after its construction. I discovered this site while visiting Dane County's Indian Lake Park. (Information from sign on the site)
