Past? Present? Future?

Photographed in a thriving, neighborhood shopping district in Oakland, homelessness is an everyday reality with no solution in sight. In many ways, we're the contemporary version of Dicken's "A Tale of Two Cities" with home prices in this neighborhood starting at $800-$900k while two miles away a major thoroughfare is lined with crudely built shanties that look like a third world country. That said, Oakland is still a wonderful place to call home but we're better than this. Unfortunately, that applies equally to much of this country.
