1969 21'x10' 7Up UnCola "# Un In The Sun" vintage billboard poster by Pat Dypold Woodstock #7Upvintage

- - - Please note that ALL of my images are "All Rights Reserved" and are posted for educational purposes only. Please do the right thing and contact me in advance if you wish to discuss the use or reuse of my images and provide a link to my originals. I would also ask that I be given a "first look" at any 7Up UnCola billboards or posters before you market them to the general public in return for my extensive investment in time, money and research, including interviewing some of the surviving artists. Thanks, and enjoy. - - -

Search "7Up UnCola Billboards" on eBay or Flickr.com if you'd like to learn more about this stunning body of work or acquire originals that might be duplicates to me. I keep the best and sell the rest.

2/3/16: Note - a video produced by 7Up (PepsiCo) includes this image, and 3 others at 30, 33, 40 & 41 seconds into the 68 second homage to 7Up's colorful history.

- - - FOR SALE - - - Small sets of (4) 34"x21" original "Fallpaper" billboard reproductions printed in 1969, including one based on this image (click photos in 2nd comment below) are available on a rotating basis via my shop on ebay, or contact me directly via Flickrmail (preferred). A few copies are in Near Mint condition, the rest are in perfect MINT, unused New Old Stock (NOS) condition and came to me in recent years still rolled up in their original postmarked Seven Up Company mailing tube . You will also see a variety of other even rarer retro 7Up UnCola posters listed for sale. If my collection contains more than 1 copy, the duplicates may be offered for others to enjoy.

This particular billboard was reportedly never offered to the general public like most of the others in my collection - only as favors to people "in the trade". This is one of at least 4 confirmed initial UnCola billboard images that were displayed in early 1969 so travelers on their way to Woodstock in mid-August 1969 very conceivably saw them. The summer of 2019 will be the joint 50th anniversary of Woodstock and the public unveiling of the UnCola art competition winners. Refer to the 7Up Fallpaper poster offer issued just 7 weeks after Woodstock featuring small reproductions of their popular "un-credible" billboards:

Collage of (12) panels (6 wide x 2 high) totaling 21'-1" x 9'-9". Each 43" wide x 59" tall thick paper sheet was photographed panel-by-panel on a homemade vacuum table (<$30) to minimize inconsistent lighting and shadows from folds and photoshopped together into this color collage. Photo editing was done to make the white body a consistent white. In reality, the colors on the panels match exactly, but the camera light sensors are easily fooled on panels this large.

The colors are really this vivid!

Mint Condition.

The presence of signatures was a perk to help certain artists establish name recognition. Up and coming artists of the day were invited to submit designs that were then reviewed anonymously by the client. Contrary to popular opinion, Peter Max was not a part of the 7Up UnCola billboard series because 7Up didn't want any artists to overshadow the product itself.

If you have any UnCola billboard posters, please tell me about them. Has anyone ever seen another one of these? Smaller poster sized copies can be found on rare occasions,

but this is - - ONE OF A KIND - - EXTREMELY RARE. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only billboard version of this image that has ever surfaced.

3/18/13: a 2nd billboard version of this image was just acquired.

This is only the 7th 7Up UnCola billboard image to be processed so far out of about 2 dozen different images in my collection to date. Check back later to see more as they get repaired (if necessary), photographed and photo-collaged together. It takes a while to process thousands of square feet of vintage paper that's almost 5 decades old in my limited spare time. I also have a few duplicates of the more popular billboards.
