Day Nineteen: She Moves with Grace and Balance
Day Nineteen, and still the headaches never completely subsided geez....I woke up very late thinking it was vacation. When I looked at my clock I was already 2 hours late from work, luckily my boss understands. Today's shoot is about a Philippine folk dance which as the net describes:
"Pandanggo sa Ilaw - The word pandanggo comes from the Spanish dance “fandango”characterized with lively steps and clapping while following a varying ¾ beat. Pandanggo requires excellent balancing skill to maintain the stability of three tinggoy, or oil lamps, placed on head and at the back of each hand. This famous dance of grace and balance originated from Lubang Island, Mindoro."
Well not really the Filipino costume I might say but we didn't have anything to wear so Bren settled using this for now. Shoot was challenging as I needed a black backdrop from a white wall considering that our room was small so eventhough making her stand up at the very edge of the room, light still bounces on the wall and slightly lits up the background, thus I settled with a one flash setup and luckily this was what I came up with. I really love how this shot came out eventhough it was hard to make the candle lights light up. Anyways, I got the idea as I already have 3 of the natural elements in my previous pics namely, Wind, water and earth so this time let's try out fire :)
No Strobist pictures, only in literal words: 580 EXII with a CTO and 1/4 24mm inside a softbox. 50D, 28-70 mm 2.8L at F2.8, 50mm, 1/800 ISO500
