Leon Earl Griffin (1889 - 1979), born and died in Dummer, New Hampshire was a self-employed farmer. He made money selling milk, eggs, butter, ham, and vegetables in the city of Berlin, New Hampshire some 30 miles south. Fiercely independent he wouldn't take social security.

Leon was from my mother's Griffin family in northern New Hampshire. My father's Griffin family lived in The Bronx, My mother moved to New York City about 1940.

"I see a crutch on the handrail of that porch and looks like a cane next to it. I believe he has a cast on his foot."

Bob reminded me from an earlier post that the horse's name was "Dick."
