"The Ship That Bought Me Home" -- 1919

A postcard likely saved by a soldier coming home from WW I;

in 1919 the Aquitania was still "HMT" (Hired Military Transport).

The RMS Aquitania was the longest serving Cunard liner in

the 20th century, in service from 1914 to 1950. Cunard made

sure that lifeboat accommodation was provided for all those

on board, in the light of the Titanic disaster.

She originally started life as RMS Aquitania, this was changed to HMT Aquitania during the first world war when she was requisitioned as a hospital ship and also used as a troop transport for up to 7000 ... She made voyages to and from Halifax Nova Scotia, carrying American troops ... During nine voyages, she transported approximately a total of 60,000 men.
