When my wife and I arrived at the Fairyland viewpoint there was dense fog. So dense you could only see about 30 ft. I figured there wouldn't be a good shot, and was ready to return to the lodge, but my wife said we should wait a few minutes. After five minutes of staring at fog I was ready to declare I was right and we should leave and get breakfast. Before I could get those words out my wife exclaims, "I think I see some red". Sure enough the fog pulled back and the sun was reflecting off the bottom of the low cloud layer. This lasted about 4 minutes then the sun rose too high and the fog rolled back in and the show was all over. But my wife was right.
