Prairie Dog Central Railways' No. 3 waits to depart from St. James station, Winnipeg with a service to Grosse Isle, Manitoba (1982)

Locomotive No. 3 is a 4-4-0 built by Dubs and Company of Glasgow in 1882 for the Canadian Pacific Railway and was later acquired by the City of Winnipeg Hydro. It is the oldest operational steam locomotive in Canada.

The Prairie Dog Central Railway was established by the Vintage Locomotive Society in 1970 and until 1974 operated a service between Charleswood, Winnipeg and Grosse Isle, Manitoba, Canada. From 1975 to 1996 the service started from St. James station, across from Polo Park shopping centre in Winnipeg. In 1999 the society established a permanent base for itself at Inkster Junction in the municipality of Rosser, moving St. James station out to the site. It also purchased part of the railway (the Oak Point Subdivision) from Canadian National Railways in the same year. The society operates a seasonal service between Inkster Junction and Gross Isle.
