Ceremony at Ankara 'Gar' to celebrate the first freight train from China to Europe via Turkey

An 820m-long train carrying 42 containers laden with electronic goods travelled from Xi’an, China, via Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, and Slovakia to Prague in the Czech Republic. The 11,483km trip was expected to take 12 days and involved crossing the Caspian Sea and passing through the Marmaray tunnel under the Bosporus in Istanbul. Given the attention that Turkey giving to this connection with China, the train was the subject of a big ceremony, which took place on 6 November 2019 in Ankara.
