Shooting Star Wildflowers, Mission Mountains in Montana

A delicate little flower growing 7 to 10 inches high. When the seeds ripen, the plant raises its head to allow them to be spread gradually by the wind. The scientific name Dodecatheon was chosen because the flower resembled twelve gods at an Olympian gathering.
