The objective behind the establishment of the school was not only setting up an institution in line with the tradition of English schools, but also the one that fostered unique Indian identity. The school had its formal inauguration on October 27, 1935 by Lord Willingdon. The Indian Public Schools’ Society (IPSS), a non-profit making body set up under the Indian Companies Act in 1929, owns the schools and is responsible for the management of the school through a Board of Governors.
