Connaught Place, New Delhi

In the pre-independence era, the British built Connaught Place for catering to the elites, housing some of the most elegant boutiques. The entire place is designed in the form of a circle. It also has an underground market called Palika Bazaar. The entire CP has white colonnades.

There is a famous lane known as Janpath in Connaught Place, famous for its export quality goods and chunky jewelry. You can also be a part of the haggling brigade with the sellers, since haggling is a norm with all the shoppers at this lane. For something traditional and ethnic like artifacts, handicrafts, brassware, antique jewelry and leather goods, head for any of the state emporiums in Connaught Place. There are emporiums for every state in India, which are home to some of the finest fabrics and have many exquisite works of craftsmanship on sale. From antiques carved ornately to cashmere shawls, these emporiums are a sheer delight for lovers of ethnic products.
