The Turkey In The Buttered Bag

This recipe calls for an obscene amount of butter. One POUND of butter will be used to make this Turkey Dinner.

 

Starting on the bottom of the bag, thickly cost the surface of the paper bag with sticks of butter. Depending on the size of everything, about 2/3 to 3/4 of a pound of butter will be needed. Please use sweet cream or unsalted butter in this recipe. Both the interior of the bird, and the interior of the bag are seasoned, so unsalted butter is necessary.

 

Then, place the turkey on a wire rack, and gently insert the bird into the bag. I've found that this is a team effort. In our house, I butter the bag and do the seasoning, and Dave does the heavy lifting.
