Vale Royal Abbey, Cheshire
This is a slightly different composition to the image I posted a couple of months ago. It's taken with a slightly wider angle lens which puts the building "further back" in the image and shows more of the ornamental lake.
I still find it difficult to believe that John Douglas designed the south and south west wing of the abbey when he was 29/30. It was completed in 1861 when Douglas was only 31 - a remarkable man.
This will probably be my last image in this series for now. It's been a privilege to photograph some of this respected architect's works.
