A painted sign familiar to travellers passing through Birstall on the busy A62 between Leeds and Huddersfield. This wonderful example of signmaker's art has long outlived the mill it advertised. In flock manufacturing, woollen rags were mixed with a small quantity of new wool, creating flocks, known by the more familiar name of 'shoddy'.
