The Great Northern Railway built the platforms of Doncaster station in 1877, but the modest Art Deco entrance building was a 1933 London & North Eastern Railway design. The canopy in front of this building had been modified in an unsympathetic style, and it was replaced by a lighter and extended version in 2019. The station is listed Grade ll.
