Drivers working out of First Potteries' Newcastle-u-Lyme garage had, until recently, a stop immediately outside the depot, useful no doubt for those amongst them starting middle or late turns at the bus station about half a mile away.
Remodelling work of the adjacent junction in connection with the construction of a new Sainsbury's meant that, for an operator whose observance of health and safety is perhaps best described as very keen, said stop was deemed no longer suitable for buses to use and so now staff must walk a couple of hundred yards to the next one. Here the driver of Scania L94 65729 (YN05 HCU) pauses to pick up two of his colleagues. Behind is The Albert, an alehouse lately of some repute but possibly the 'cliquiest' boozer in the town.
